Why the 112 became the default

A mid-profile snapback trucker is the safest headwear shape in the US market. It flatters more head shapes than a low-profile cap, it holds a large logo without the crown collapsing, and the mesh back keeps it wearable in summer. That combination pushed thecustom trucker hatprofile to the front of promotional, outdoor and brand programs — and made style 112 the shape most buyers name when they ask for a trucker cap.

That is also why searching for a supplier by the number is a trap. The number identifies a profile, not a finished product, and a bare cap is not what you are actually buying. What you are buying is the profile, decorated with your mark, packed the way your channel needs it, at a price that works at your quantity.

We handle both halves. If you already hold a blank account, send the caps and we decorate them. If you would rather buy finished, we build the cap to the same construction and quote the whole piece. Either way the decoration, the sample and the pre-shipment photographs are handled by us.

The profiles buyers ask for

Style numbers identify a construction. These are the construction families we most often get asked to match, and what actually changes between them.

ConstructionWhat changesCommonly referenced as
Mid-profile snapback truckerThe reference shape — six-panel, structured front, pre-curved visor, adjustable snapback. The most requested headwear profile in the US promotional and brand market.112 and its variants
Low-profile truckerA lower crown and shallower front panel than the mid-profile. Sits closer to the head and suits smaller logos and younger wearers.115 Low Pro
Seven-panelSeven panels give a rounder, fuller crown. Asked for by buyers who find a six-panel too angular.7-panel requests
Five-panelOne wide front panel instead of a split pair, so a broad wordmark sits flat with no centre seam crossing it.5-panel requests

We do not publish a specification table for construction numbers we have not checked against a physical sample. Send the number or the cap itself and we confirm the panels, crown height, visor and closure in writing before quoting — so the quote is against a real construction, not a guess.

Two ways to run your order

Pick the route that fits how you already buy, or run both across different lines.

Route one

You supply the blanks, we decorate

  • You keep control of the blank you already buy and its colour program.
  • We handle digitizing, patch making, stitching, mockup, sample and pre-shipment photos.
  • The decoration spec is held on file, so a repeat order runs from the same file.
  • Works well when your brand has a fixed blank supplier or a client-mandated cap.

Route two

We build the cap and decorate it

  • One supplier for the cap and the decoration, so nothing falls between two vendors.
  • Fabric, mesh, visor, sweatband, closure and decoration are all specified together.
  • Colour matching covers the cap and the decoration against one Pantone reference.
  • Works well for private label, retail and programs that need a repeatable house cap.

Not sure which fits? Send the brief and we will say which route is cheaper for your quantity — they do not price the same way. See theprivate label programif the cap is going out as your own product.

Decorating a 112-profile trucker

A structured mid-profile front takes every common method. Which one is right depends on the artwork, not on the price tag alone.

Colour is where most orders stall

Colour is the single most common reason a trucker cap order sits waiting. Buyers arrive with a colourway in mind, discover the exact tone is not available in the fabric they wanted, and the order stalls while everyone looks for a substitute.

The fix is to treat colour as a matched specification rather than a shopping list. You give us the target, we confirm what can be matched across fabric, mesh, visor, sweatband and stitch, and then we prove it on the physical sample before the bulk run. If a target cannot be hit, you find out before production rather than after.

Two-tone builds are worth deciding early as well. A contrast front and mesh, or a contrasting visor and stitch, changes the whole read of the cap and costs nothing extra when it is part of the original specification — and a great deal when it is added after the run has started.

If you cannot get the blank

Looking for a hat similar to the 112?

Stock shortages, colour gaps, minimums that are too high and shipping delays are the four reasons buyers come to us looking for an equivalent. None of them are reasons to delay a launch, because the profile is a construction — and a construction can be built.

Send a physical sample or clear photographs of the front, side, back and inside. We read the panel count, crown height, visor shape and curve, closure type, sweatband and mesh from it, then tell you plainly which details we can match and which would change. If the answer is that a detail cannot be matched, you hear that at the quote stage rather than at the sample stage.

The result is a cap that reads as the same product in the hand and on a shelf, built to your colour and decoration spec, on our own production schedule. For repeat programs that is usually worth more than the exact blank, because the supply is predictable.

Buyer Risk Check

Where trucker cap programs usually go wrong

Four decisions that cost more to fix after production than before it.

Buying the number, not the cap

A style number identifies a construction, not a finished decorated product. Buying against the number and choosing the decoration afterwards is how mismatched orders happen.

Logo sized for a flat drawing

A mark that fits a flat mockup can cross the front seam or lift at the corners once the crown is curved and the cap is on a head. Size is confirmed against the physical sample.

Colour assumed from a screen

Fabric, mesh and thread all render colour differently from a monitor. Pantone references are matched and proved on the sample, not agreed from the mockup alone.

Packing decided last

Polybag, hangtag, retail carton and bulk carton change the unit cost and the schedule. They belong in the original specification, not added once the goods are finished.

Why buyers build trucker programs with us

One workshop for the cap and the decoration, and a specification you can reorder against.

Blanks supplied or caps built

Bring your own blank account and we decorate, or buy finished and we build the profile. You are not forced into a supply route that does not fit how you already buy.

Matched from a reference, not a guess

Send a sample or photographs and we read the panels, crown, visor and closure from it, then confirm in writing what matches and what would change before you commit.

Seven decoration methods

Embroidery, 3D puff, leather, woven, PVC, chenille and print. We recommend against the artwork rather than pushing the one method we happen to run.

Spec held for repeat orders

Once a program is approved, the construction, colour and decoration spec stays on file so a reorder runs from the same approved sample.

What we confirm before quoting

Every line here is settled in writing before the artwork proof is issued.

Frequently asked questions

There are two ways to run it. You supply the blank caps and we decorate them, or we build the cap to the same mid-profile snapback trucker construction on our own line. Both are normal orders — tell us which one you want in the enquiry and we will quote against it.
